2023-2024 Travel Team Info

Being a player on a travel team is a significant commitment that includes tryouts, practices, travel for tournaments, and financial investment.

From November through May, all SBVC travel team athletes will practice twice weekly and travel to one or two-day tournaments hosted by the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA) and/or Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).

Teams will have travel schedules, including one to three additional tournaments throughout the season. These tournaments will be 3-day events with overnight stays in the hosting city. These tournaments can include SCVA/AAU Cups or Classics, USAV/AAU Bid Qualifiers, and USAV/AAU National Championships, all taking place across the nation from California to Florida.

Schedules per Travel Team will be set prior to the start of each season with the associated dues cost for participation. If teams choose to attend additional tournaments over and above the set schedule, additional costs will be added to cover the extra tournament fees and travel costs.

Competition Level Teams:
NATIONAL - The competition schedule will include the SCVA Power (qualify) or Elite Division, 3 overnight events, and one Postseason event.

Girls 12s, 13s, and 14s teams will begin their season with practices in early November.
Girls 15s, 16s, 17s, and 18s will begin their season with practices in mid-late November after the high school CIF season has ended.

Girls Travel Season will run from November 2023 through June 2024.

This season, our goal is to field the strongest National Teams in each age group. Our National teams will have 10-12 players who have the ability to compete at a high level within the SCVA. In addition to SCVA events, National Teams will travel to the Red Rock Rave, the JVA West Coast Cup, and the AAU Festival in Phoenix, AZ. Each National Team will have two practices per week. When gym availability allows, an additional practice may be added the week of a tournament. Club dues for a National Team will fall between $4,500 and $5,000 for the season.

Coaches:

14-National - Meaghan Wheeler and Naya Williamson

15-National - Todd Shea and Jacob Miller

16-National - Hannah McGlockton and Teo Diaz

We recognize that not every player has collegiate aspirations; for many, the priority is to succeed at the high school level. The commitment of both time and money is significant for most families to be able to participate in a Travel Team season.
