Beginning with Evaluations, practice groups will be formed based on age, playing ability, and player availability. You will have the opportunity to select your player’s practice days availability during the registration process. If your player has friend requests, make sure to request the same practice days! We will not be taking specific team requests as our training model is slightly different this season.
Everyone will have two practices per week for 90 minutes. Each age group will be led by a Head Coach, while an Assistant Coach will manage each court. The Head Coach will lead and plan practices while the Assistant Coaches conduct the practices and coach the teams at tournaments.

For over 20 years, Santa Barbara Volleyball Club has offered a non-travel alternative for those players who, for whatever reason, are unable to commit to the rigors and/or cost of club travel teams. Over the years, it has become an extremely popular league for “non-travel” teams to practice, train for and compete among themselves in friendship tournaments and matches over the course of the season. Most seasons, similar teams from clubs in the 805 radius will also join in the SBVC hosted tournaments. Blenders in the Grass has been the generous sponsor year after year for many generations that the league has become simply known as “Blenders”.
The primary goal is to provide a fun experience that develops an interest in the amazing sport of volleyball! While the emphasis on the non-travel league is on practice, with players developing the overall individual skills and fundamentals, and learning basic team concepts and strategies, the friendship tournaments are an opportunity for players to put their practice into play, and more importantly fun and social events for players and parents to enjoy alike!
This Blenders non-travel league is a good starting point for players who may be interested in playing later in high school and/or on more advanced traveling club volleyball teams, or for those athletes who compete in multi-sports and cannot yet commit to the rigorous competition schedule of a travel team season.
