With the season winding down for most all teams, the 15 Blue team is still competing and participated in the SCVA Finals tournament this past Saturday.

The format of the tournament was power pools, based on overall season ranking. This made for lots of close, tough matches – throughout the entire day. The 15 Blue team opened the day with a narrow loss to San Clemente 15-Riley (25-20, 22-25, 15-17). They built on that momentum and next up beat Temecula Viper 15-Tracy (28-26, 25-16). In the final pool play match, they fell to the overall winner of the pool, APEX 15-A1 (20-25, 21-25) to finish 3rd place. In the playoffs, the team beat Seal Beach 15-Roger (25-20) before losing to Laguna Beach 15-Mark (13-25).

Coach Dillan Bennett said, “going into this tournament, it gave us another chance to experiment with new line ups, and further prepare for Orlando in a few weeks. Bella Johnson had a great tournament with 36 kills and 4 aces on the day, while Danielle La Grange was a force at the net with 16 kills and 7 blocks”. The team will compete in the AAU National Championships in Orlando, FL from June 19-22. They end their SCVA season ranked in the top 25, out of 245 teams.
